Solar panel cleaning across Greater Townsville.
From The Strand foreshore at North Ward through to Kirwan in the western growth corridor, Magnetic Island ferry side to Idalia master-planned estate. One LGA, four solar-pressure profiles — salt-air coastal, ibis-zone river fringe, red-dust inland, and established Queenslander inner-city. We work all of them weekly.
Suburbs we cover.

Each with local solar-stock context — vintage of installed systems, salt-air or red-dust exposure, bird-traffic patterns.
Other Townsville suburbs we cover.
Four solar-pressure profiles across the LGA.
Coastal salt-air zone (North Ward, Pallarenda, South Townsville foreshore, Bushland Beach): onshore breeze carries fine salt aerosol onto rooftops within 1.5km of the foreshore. Salt bonds dust into a hard mineral film. Plus significant Strand-foreshore ibis and seabird traffic. Highest pressure in Townsville — semi-annual cleaning recommended.
Ibis-zone river fringe (Idalia, Annandale, Rosslea, Mundingburra, Currajong): the Ross River corridor and associated council parkland host substantial Australian White Ibis, Straw-Necked Ibis and Little Corella populations. Bird droppings are acidic, hard-baked, and won’t shift in monsoon rain. Annual cleaning + bird-mesh skirting is the standard prescription here.
Established inner-city Queenslander zone (Pimlico, Hyde Park, Mysterton, Hermit Park, Gulliver): 1950s-70s housing stock with steeper traditional roof pitches, smaller PV systems (3-5kW typical), often older Enphase micro-inverters or early string units. Slightly more access time required. Mature street trees add a light organic leaf load.
Inland family-estate zone (Kirwan, Thuringowa Central, Condon, Rasmussen, Kelso, Burdell, Bohle Plains): late 1970s through 2010s estate-build housing on the western corridor. Largest installed PV base in Townsville by sheer suburb size. Furthest from coastal salt but most exposed to the August-November red dust season. Annual cleaning easily recovers the cost in retained FiT income.
The 2012-2017 FiT boom — Townsville’s legacy solar story.
Townsville has one of the highest per-capita rooftop-solar adoption rates in Australia — somewhere around 60% of residential rooftops. Most of that base was installed during the Queensland feed-in-tariff boom of 2012-2017, when the tariff stepped down from 44c (locked in pre-July 2012, runs to 30 June 2028) through 28c, 8c and finally 6c. Most homeowners went Tier-1 panel (Trina, REC, LG, Jinko) paired with mid-tier string inverters (Fronius, SMA, Sungrow). The arrays themselves are now in the middle of their 25-year product warranty lifespan; the inverters are at or past their 10-year design life. Without annual cleaning + inverter health-check, this enormous installed base is silently losing 15-25% of its rated output. We exist to stop that loss.
Compliance + warranty — what every Townsville solar owner should have on file.
- Annual-clean certificates — at minimum the last 3 years — required by Tier-1 manufacturers (Trina, LG, REC, Jinko) to honour the 25-year product warranty.
- Inverter health-check reports done by a CEC-accredited electrician, with DC isolator test, error-code log, firmware version, and AS/NZS 4777 grid-connection compliance.
- Output-test results showing measured kW per string against original nameplate kWp — supports warranty replacement claims for degraded modules.
- AS/NZS 5033 visual compliance scan on the array DC side, particularly important on installs pre-2018 when AS/NZS 5033:2014 came into force.
Why does this matter? When a Tier-1 manufacturer warranty claim comes in for a degraded panel, the first thing they ask for is documented annual cleaning. No records = no claim paid. The $220-$380/yr annual maintenance plan is the cheapest insurance you can buy on a $15K-$25K solar investment.
